Facebook’s use cases have been reducing day by day, with most techies opting to use Twitter and Instagram over Facebook, given the UI and ease of use that the former apps have over Facebook. Today, it was announced that Facebook was streamlining its settings page on the mobile app as part of a new redesign that is being rolled out in the wee hours of Thursday. On a visual basis, the new layout gets rid of the clutter, with individual pages now lacking descriptions, allowing the user to see more of the page and get access to more data at a time.

To add to this, Facebook has also made changes to the organization of the settings, by reducing the number of categories for settings and renaming the same. As per a new blog post, users will now see six categories of the settings, namely Preferences, Account, Permissions, Your Information, Audience and Visibility, Community Standards and Legal Policies. Certain settings have also been relocated to locations where similar or related settings are present, as per Facebook. Users will be able to see this new look on all platforms, Android, iOS, Facebook Lite and mobile web. The redesign should be appearing on your handset so keep an eye out for the same. This comes after a post by WABetaInfo revealed that WhatsApp would be bringing end-to-end encryption for local backups of chats, which was quite a welcome move for most. For those of you wondering, the post by WABetaInfo on Twitter mentioned that the feature had been doing rounds on WhatsApp Beta for Android, with the shared screenshot showing that within the chat backup page, WhatsApp would show the time for the last backup and whether or not the same was end-to-end encrypted or not. Underneath this area there will also be an option for the user to create a new backup for their chats, with the option to turn on end-to-end encryption, providing the size of the backup as well. There might also be an option to choose whether or not to encrypt the backup, which provides the user with an option. You might think that the option to choose encryption of local backups would be one that most would use, however, there is an increase in overall file size, which could lead to overconsumption of storage space and giving this option should allow the user to back their data up without reducing their storage space.
